Step 1 – Part 3: Unmanageability

This paragraph below is taken from Chapter 4 – “We Agnostics”. Whilst it is not directly stated, it is generally used in the Fellowship as a good guideline for the ‘unmanageability’ bit of Step 1.

“We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn’t control our emotional natures, we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn’t make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness, we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn’t seem to be of real help to other people”. – Page 52, Chapter 4

TASK: Write down 5 examples where these apply to your life- they don’t have to be drinking related. Often our unmanageability is as much the result of our bad choices and warped reactions to life, as our addiction to alcohol. The “spiritual malady”
