Bob Bauer and Jack Goldsmith write some interesting emails about the legality of decisions made by the Trump Administration.
Today’s email featured a discussion about the earlier attack on Venezuela, which culminated in the arrest and deportation of Maduro and his wife.
In summary, US Presidents have pulled this kind of shit throughout history, it goes against the UN Charter 2 (4) which states you can’t just attack sovereign nations, though not against a number of internal US laws which override this. It finishes by stating that having a system whereby the President can basically do whatever the fuck he wants isn’t great and could lead to serious consequences.
